Providence Children’s Academy is a beloved and trusted Coconut Creek preschool, where children not only learn but also engage in safe play in a fun, healthy environment. With dedicated staff equipped to provide everything young kids need to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically, there are many reasons why parents choose us, starting with activities and learning opportunities as early as infancy.

Read on to learn why families choose Providence Children’s Academy from six weeks of age up to age four, and what activities are available for each stage of childhood.

From Infancy To One Year Old

From as early as six weeks of age, children have a natural desire to learn, and one of the ways they do that is through structured play. The desire to learn and play only gets stronger as their first year progresses. By the time children reach their first birthday, they are unstoppable! Our early education class aims to enhance their fast-developing cognitive abilities while building on social skills. This is done through music, story time, and singing: all activities that enhance gross and fine motor skills.

This class has no formal assessments, but rather exists to provide a solid foundation to facilitate later development.

The Two-Year-Old Class

By the time a child is two, the desire for learning is best satisfied through play and other social activities. Even as toddlers develop social skills with their peers, they also grow in independence as they learn basic hygiene, how to feed themselves, and pick up their toys after activities.

Most critical for this age group is the start of potty training. Basic safety lessons are also taught, such as holding hands and staying together while out in public, and listening to the adults in charge. Children at this stage also begin to learn basic manners and respect for others.

At this stage, and every age group after, children are assessed according to standards set by the state of Florida.

The Three-Year-Old Class

The gap between ages three and four is huge for cognitive development, which is why this class is divided into an older and a younger group. This allows our teachers to adjust the pacing of the lesson, depending on the speed at which children can learn.

The skill set for this group focuses on promoting independence and staying on task, whether the activity is a game, a puzzle, or a craft. Gross motor skills are enhanced through outdoor activities such as climbing, learning to balance, and walking backwards.

At our Coconut Creek preschool, we’re always finding new ways to engage young learners and boost cognitive development. In our three-year classrooms, children can develop their fine motor coordination through craft time, learning to color inside the lines, and using blocks to create and build.

All About Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

For four-year-old children, voluntary prekindergarten (VPK) is available in Florida to help prepare them for kindergarten. The curriculum focuses on early literacy and social skills in a fun, happy environment which helps prepare children for kindergarten.

After-School Care

For parents who work past traditional school hours, after-school care is available. School-aged children can have access to a safe place for help with their homework, or to play and relax. Whatever activities they engage in, parents rest easy knowing their kids are in safe hands. Pick-ups and drop-offs are available for afternoon activities.

The Best Summer Camp

Summertime can be tricky for working parents, who no longer have traditional school hours to keep their kids occupied. Fortunately, Providence Children’s Academy also offers themed summer camps that are packed with fun games, crafts, and outings for kids of all ages.

What To Know About Our Teachers

The staff at Providence Children’s Academy are not only highly qualified and carefully screened; they are passionate, experienced educators who can provide each child with the care and attention they need, thanks to a low child-to-teacher ratio.

How Our Curriculum And Assessments Work

Every class we offer follows the standards set by the Florida Department of Education. Assessments are performed three times per year: in the fall, in January, and at the end of the school year in May. We hold meetings with teachers and parents at the end of each assessment period regarding each child’s progress and areas they may need improvement. This allows any child who is falling behind socially, academically, or emotionally to receive the additional help they need.

About Our Coconut Creek Preschool Facility

Providence Children’s Academy takes safety concerns seriously. Visitors are only allowed into the building via a security keypad that provides access. Additionally, a fingerprint scanner in the lobby is required before checking your child in and out of school. For additional safety and transparency, parents even have access to a smartphone app that allows them to “check in” on their children at any time.

Each of our classrooms contains a plethora of age-appropriate activities, from games to toys and puzzles. Teachers often use whiteboards for interactive activities that accompany each lesson, encouraging class participation.

No detail is too small to ensure safety and well-being, even down to the flooring. Throughout the school, you’ll find the same antibacterial flooring that is used in hospitals. This makes for bacteria-resistant surfaces that are safe for young people to play on, not to mention easy to keep clean. We avoid using cleaners with harsh chemicals that could trigger serious reactions in our young students.

The playground rests on a special poured-in-place rubber material that’s at once thick, smooth, and springy: perfect for absorbing jumps and leaps. Kids love the opportunity to swing, climb, and play on Little Tikes jungle gyms and accessories.
