Factors to Look For In A Great Local Preschool

When you’re doing this search for the best possible local preschool for your child, there are things you should consider during this important decision.
Security
Look for a facility that requires fingerprint access for drop-off and pick-up. All guests must give a photo ID before gaining access to the classrooms. Webcam access is available all the time for parents to see how their children are doing. All entry doors to our building have a security code, which only the staff knows, and all exit doors remain locked all day long.
Versatile Learning Environment
At Providence Children’s Academy, we create different learning centers in separate classrooms for writing, dramatic play, reading, science, math, and art. Every week, we focus on a different color, shape, and letter of the week. Students enjoy specials such as music, media, and physical education regularly.
Daily reports for every student two and under are given to parents as well as portfolio assessments over time. We hold parent-teacher conferences several times during the school year to keep you updated on your child’s progress. A monthly newsletter can help give you tips on how to extend your child’s learning at home too.
Importance of Family Involvement
Our staff recognizes that it always takes a village to educate children. We offer different special events for families throughout the year, including science fair, winter show, book fair, Mother’s Day Tea, VPK prom, and a Halloween parade.
Protective Play Equipment
We furnish our local preschool with Jonti-Craft products, which are the safest and strongest available on the market. With NFL turf with padding and sand underneath, you can rest assured your child’s risk of injury while playing is minimal. All of our staff members are also First-Aid and CPR certified for your peace of mind.
Latest Technology
Your child is growing up in a time where technology runs the world. Our teachers use an interactive computer known as a Smart Board. This helps your child learn numbers, words, shapes, colors, and math with a hands-on approach that makes learning more fun.
Age Appropriate Activities
We offer different classrooms for children six months old to four years old, including:
- Infant/One Year
- Two Years
- Three Years
- Voluntary prekindergarten
VPK is a free program that helps preschoolers be as ready as possible for kindergarten. We use the Florida state VPK curriculum and work on early literacy and social skills that help them to foster mental, emotional, and physical growth.
What is a Curriculum-Based Local Preschool?

This learning environment uses an early childhood curriculum with age-appropriate technology and activities. We create an environment that encourages all students to want to grow socially, emotionally, and educationally. Our staff will evaluate each child daily to monitor their specific needs and their progress to help us adjust or pivot their lessons when needed.
We use a structured learning plan that utilizes instructions which allow all children to grow in a multi-faceted way. This means that the curriculum is designed to help children at a developmental stage exactly where they are at. We adjust as necessary over time.
What Does a Florida VPK Entail?

A child is eligible for a Florida VPK program when they are 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. If their fourth birthday falls between Feb 2 and that date, parents can choose to postpone enrolling their child until they turn five.
These VPK classrooms are not to exceed 11 students with one instructor or 20 students with an instructor and assistant. 540 instructional hours must occur in a school-year program. Instructors must have a FLorida Child Care Professional Credential. Summer VPK is for 300 instructional hours and must not exceed 12 students with one instructor. They must have a Bachelor’s degree.
